Companion & Research Assistant for History Enthusiast - Oakland, CA
We are looking for a thoughtful, patient person to assist my husband with an ongoing research and collecting project he is passionate about. He has Alzheimer's and benefits greatly from having someone who is genuinely interested in history and can work alongside him in a calm, encouraging way.

What the role involves:
- Meeting on a regular weekly schedule (hours and days flexible), maybe 10 hours/week
- Helping him navigate the computer - searching, organizing, and recording his research
- Engaging with him conversationally about his interests and the subject matter
- Being a steady, friendly presence - patience and warmth matter most
What we're hoping for:
- A genuine interest in history (any area or era is welcome)
- Comfort with basic computer tasks such as spreadsheets - no advanced tech skills needed

- Experience with, or openness to, working with someone with memory impairment
- Reliability and good communication with our family
This is a paid position. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Located in the Adams Point neighborhood of Oakland.
