Compensation: $18/hour, 40 hours per week

The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA) is the leading trade association representing the industries that bring warmth, comfort, and outdoor enjoyment to homes across North America. Our work supports the manufacturers, retailers, and distributors of hearth, outdoor living, and barbecue products through advocacy, education, and consumer engagement.
Position Overview:
HPBA is seeking a Paid Communications Intern for Spring/Summer 2024 to support our communications team in creating engaging digital content. This role is ideal for a creative student or recent graduate with strong video editing skills, an interest in storytelling, and a passion for social media. The intern will work on video projects, write articles for the HPBA blog, and assist with social media content creation across multiple HPBA accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Video Production & Editing:
o Plan, shoot, and edit short-form and long-form video content for HPBA's digital platforms.
o Assist in developing video campaigns for industry initiatives.
o Ensure all video content aligns with HPBA branding and messaging.
- Blog Writing & Content Creation:
o Research and write engaging articles for the HPBA blog on industry trends, products, and events.
o Support content strategy by identifying relevant topics and audience engagement opportunities.
- Social Media Support:
o Assist in creating and scheduling content for HPBA, HPBExpo, HPBA Hearth, and HPBA Barbecue social media accounts.
o Develop eye-catching graphics, captions, and video snippets for social media posts.
o Track performance metrics and provide recommendations for improving engagement.
Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate in communications, marketing, journalism, video production, or a related field.
- Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
- Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Strong writing and storytelling skills.
- Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar) are a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
