Join our team and gain hands-on experience working across three growing brands in media, ecommerce, and consumer products. This isn't your typical internship. You'll work alongside entrepreneurs building exciting businesses while developing real-world marketing, content creation, and storytelling skills that will help set you apart after graduation.
Our brands include:
Buncombe County Digest - One of Asheville's fastest-growing local newsletters featuring events, local businesses, restaurants, and everything happening around Western North Carolina.
Baja Llama - A fun, adventure-inspired apparel company sold online and through retail stores across the United States.
The Steeped Letter Co. - A unique startup blending tea, travel, and storytelling into a monthly subscription experience.
If you're looking to build a portfolio, develop practical marketing experience, and have fun along the way, we'd love to meet you.
Responsibilities
Depending on the week, you'll have the opportunity to:
Research local events and businesses
Write newsletter articles and community features
Attend local events and capture photos and videos
Create Instagram Reels, TikToks, and social media content
Design simple graphics
Brainstorm creative marketing campaigns
Assist with blog writing and SEO research
Organize marketing assets and content calendars
Help coordinate influencer and partnership outreach
Support marketing projects across all three brands
Every week is a little different, giving you experience across multiple areas of marketing rather than just one specialty.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is
Currently enrolled in college (Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, English, Photography, or related majors encouraged)
Creative and enjoys telling stories
Organized and dependable
Comfortable using social media
Eager to learn and take initiative
A strong writer with attention to detail
Photography, video editing, Canva, or Adobe experience is a plus but not required
Has reliable transportation for occasional local event coverage
What You'll Receive
$15/hour
Performance review after 90 days with opportunity for a raise to $16-17/hour
Flexible scheduling around your classes
Mentorship from founder building multiple growing businesses
Published writing samples and portfolio pieces
Experience across media, ecommerce, branding, email marketing, and social media
Complimentary admission to select local events when available
Opportunities to network with Asheville business owners, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and community leaders
Potential for additional hours and long-term employment as the company grows
