Part-Time Caregiver for Teen with Autism - Gaining Experience & Making a Difference @Gretchen DeBiasi

We're looking for a compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic caregiver to work with our 16 year old son, who has autism and is nonverbal. He's a loving, easygoing teen who thrives on connection, enjoys physical activities, and loves being engaged with people. At times, he displays challenging behaviors when he becomes frustrated by his limited ability to communicate his wants and needs, so we're seeking someone who's patient, resilient, and able to stay calm under pressure.

Location: Basking Ridge, NJ area (must have reliable transportation)

Schedule: Afterschool hours and weekends (flexible weekend availability needed)

What you'll do:
Support with daily living skills: washing, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, and physical transitions
Light meal preparation as needed
Follow a structured schedule and engage him in fun, ageappropriate activities
Provide safe transport to community outings (walks, park, restaurants)
Collaborate with his behavior support team and follow treatment plan recommendations
Maintain open communication with our family and respect privacy at all times

What we're looking for:
High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree preferred
Genuine patience, empathy, and willingness to learn
Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or severe behavior problems
Familiarity with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Fun, energetic, and creative approach to caregiving
Must have a valid driver's license and your own vehicle; comfortable using family vehicle if needed
Able to pass a background check
