Job Title: Director of Youth Ministries
Job Summary:
The Director of Youth Ministries is a rewarding role where you can truly make a lasting impact on the next generation. As the youth director you will have the opportunity to inspire and mentor youth from 5th through 12th grade, helping them grow in faith and discover their purpose in Christ.
In this exciting position, you'll provide vision and leadership for all youth programs, ensuring they are engaging, relevant, and transformative. Working closely with volunteers and the church leadership, you'll oversee planning, organization, and implementation of activities that foster genuine life change.

Job Status: Full time (minimum of 40 hours per week)
Accountability: Reports to the Board of Elders
Qualifications:
1. Personal
- Must provide a clear testimony of faith alone in Christ alone as Savior
- Must possess a growing fellowship with Christ as Lord
- Must demonstrate a faithful pursuit of leadership characteristics as delineated in 1 Timothy 3
- Must have a passion to see youth build an understanding of the Christian faith and live it out
- A married candidate is preferred
2. Education, Training, and Perspective
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of Bible
- Must possess a biblical philosophy of ministry and principles of Christian education (experience preferred in an established successful youth program)
- Must subscribe to the Bylaws of the church
- Must embrace a conservative, evangelical theology
- A candidate with a degree in Theology or Youth Ministry
is preferred
3. Experience or Skills
- Must demonstrate a genuine love toward and rapport with young people
- Must understand the problems of teens with a knowledge of biblical solutions
- Must be able to teach the Bible in a relevant manner to teens
- Must be able to recruit, schedule, and train volunteer adult leaders to assist in ministry
- Must be able to exercise initiative and judgment as an independent worker
- Must possess organizational and administration abilities
- Must be able to respond to changing needs throughout the daily and weekly schedule
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a team player, working well with others
Duties:
1. Cast vision for the youth ministry and the ministries that he oversees, with a plan and ability to bring them to fruition
- Create a biblical purpose statement for the youth group comprising the elements of evangelism, spiritual growth (including fellowship, worship, and biblical teaching), and student leadership
- Communicate the purpose statement to all volunteers and students
2. Develop, lead, and/or oversee programs according to the vision and purpose of the youth ministry
- Choose or develop age and topic appropriate curriculum for all youth groups in conjunction with the Board of Christian Education
3. Help support the annual VBS program in conjunction with the Board of Christian Education
4. Help support any children's special programs (Christmas dramas, youth bands, etc.)
5. Plan, lead, and carry out youth specific activities and events
- Create outreach programs, activities, and events (evangelism)
- Coordinate an annual youth mission's trip in conjunction with the Board of Missions (evangelism)
- Plan spiritual growth programs, activities, and events that include opportunities for teens to worship, to fellowship with each other, and to learn biblical truths and apply them to their lives (spiritual growth)
- Plan programs, activities, or events, developing students who want to reach out and serve others, impacting them with the love of Christ (student leadership)
6. Prepare volunteer adult leaders to assist in youth ministry
- Recruit, train, equip, and schedule volunteers
- Conduct meetings regularly with volunteers
- Utilize the Board of Christian Education as a resource, a sounding board, for strategizing, and for consultation
7. Build and maintain quality relationships with adolescents
- Meet regularly with teens from the youth group throughout the week
- Befriend teens not associated with the church
- Seek opportunities to visit teens on campus, at sports or cultural events, in the home, or in the community
8. Build and maintain quality relationships with parents
- Communicate the youth ministry's vision to parents
- Create avenues of consistent contact with parents (regular e-newsletters, annual parent meetings, in home visitation, text blasts, etc.)
9. Oversee the youth ministry budget
- Craft and submit an annual budget
- Be prudent with finances, following the approved budget
10. Involve youth aged students in the ministry of the church as a whole, supporting and participating in the church's vision, worship services, and activities
11. Attend weekly church services, weekly staff meetings, and annual congregational meeting
12. Provide a monthly report to the Elder liaison for youth ministry
13. Serve as a member on the Board of Christian Education
14. Current ministries and programs include:
- Jr. High Sunday school (Sunday morning)
- Sr. High Sunday school (Sunday morning)
- Jr. High youth group (Sunday evenings, grades 5-8)
- Sr. High youth group (Sunday evenings, grades 9-12)
15. Other duties as assigned by the Board of Elders
Salary: $40,000-45,000+, commensurate with experience
