Are you a graduate student, postdoctoral scholar, or recent graduate in a STEM program (Engineering or Science) or a graduate program in Business, Sales, or Marketing? Are you passionate about innovation, customer discovery, and exploring the commercialization potential of cutting-edge technologies? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team in investigating the commercialization potential of a new technology in the field of electricity generation. This part-time role involves conducting customer discovery interviews, brainstorming with the team, and other related tasks to assess market opportunities and drive the customer discovery process.
In addition to the core responsibilities, the selected candidate(s) will have the opportunity to join as a researcher team member in a National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps training program and/or contribute to an SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) proposal. Depending on your interests and expertise, you may take on the role of Entrepreneurial Co-Lead or Technical Co-Lead, gaining valuable experience in advancing early-stage technologies toward commercialization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct short, structured interviews with potential customers to gather insights and validate market needs.
- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and refine strategies for customer engagement and market exploration.
- Participate in weekly courses led by university instructors to enhance understanding of customer discovery and commercialization strategies.
- Analyze interview findings and contribute to the development of actionable insights.
- Assist in mapping out the commercialization potential of the technology using the Lean Canvas methodology.
- Research market trends, customer pain points, and competitive landscapes to inform decision-making.
- Document findings and present insights to the team during regular meetings.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a graduate or postdoctoral program in STEM (Engineering or Science) or a graduate program in Business, Sales, or Marketing.
- Familiarity with the Lean Canvas methodology and a strong interest in customer discovery and commercialization processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for conducting interviews and collaborating with team members.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a remote setting.
- Availability to commit to at least 3 hours per week (remote work via Zoom).
Compensation:
- Hourly Stipend.
