Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick up and transport two school-aged children (Girl (11) and Boy (13)) to and from after-school activities (Mondays & Tuesdays, 3:00-9:00 PM).
- Supervise the children after school, including coordinating playdates and ensuring homework is completed.
- Prepare simple meals and healthy snacks.
- Feed and let the sweet, old family dog outside as needed.
- Keep the kitchen, mudroom, and children's living areas tidy and organized.
- Complete children's laundry, including washing, folding, and putting away clothes.
- Run occasional household errands (grocery pickups, returns, dry cleaning, etc.).
- Help maintain an organized, smoothly running home and assist with other family-related tasks as needed.
Ideal Candidate:
- Dependable, punctual, and highly organized.
- Excellent judgment and enjoys working with older children.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Safe, reliable, insured vehicle.
- Comfortable managing multiple responsibilities independently.
- Ability to shift direction in real time if kids' schedules change at last minute.
- Friendly, positive, and proactive-you notice what needs to be done without being asked.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a private home.
Additional Information:
We live in Farmington, right over the West Hartford line, near UCONN Health Center. 8 minute drive to West Hartford Center. Boy (13) is typical oldest child - earnest, hardworking, and very kind. Plays competitive hockey and loves any and all sports. Girl (11) is spunky and giggly and fun and loves dancing and hanging with friends. I'm a business owner and single mom who can't be in all places at once, though I wish I could be. I'm looking for someone who makes life easier and gives me peace of mind knowing my kids are happy and well-cared-for. I'd describe myself as time-crunched, trusting, and appreciative.
Perks:
- $28/hr- Guaranteed 12 hours/week.
- Up to 6 additional hours available each week, if interested - days and times to be discussed.
- Additional optional hours during school vacations or evenings, if desired.
- Gas reimbursement.
- Flexible start date- any time between August 15- September 5.
