Job Summary: Product Developer - Botanical & Essential Oil-Based Products (e.g., Kratom)
We are looking for a Product Developer with specialized experience in botanical formulations and essential oils, particularly in products using kratom and other plant-derived ingredients. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the development of innovative wellness products that harness the natural benefits of botanicals.
This position involves end-to-end product development - from ideation and formulation to testing and commercialization - with a focus on compliance, safety, efficacy, and market trends. A strong understanding of kratom, herbal extracts, essential oils, and regulatory guidelines in the natural products industry is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and develop botanical formulations using kratom and other essential oils and herbal extracts.
Evaluate and validate raw botanical materials for potency, purity, and safety.
Lead formulation development, including tinctures, capsules, oils, topicals, and other delivery formats.
Work closely with sourcing, QA/QC, regulatory, and production teams to ensure quality and compliance.
Monitor scientific and regulatory developments related to kratom and similar botanicals.
Conduct stability and performance testing, ensuring consistency and shelf-life standards are met.
Support pilot production and manufacturing scale-up processes.
Maintain thorough documentation of formulations, processes, and testing results.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Herbal Science, Natural Product Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Chemistry, or related field.
2-5 years of experience developing products using botanicals or essential oils; direct experience with kratom is highly preferred.
Deep knowledge of kratom's properties, industry trends, and legal/regulatory considerations.
Strong understanding of formulation science, GMP standards, and product safety testing.
Ability to navigate evolving regulations related to kratom and other controlled botanicals.
Analytical, innovative, and passionate about plant-based wellness solutions.

Pay: $83,649.78 - $100,739.52 per year
