LA based junior/contemporary denim company is seeking an energetic Assistant Designer to collaborate with our design team. We're looking for someone with passion and the ability to understand and act on the latest trends. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication (both written and verbal) skills, be very organized and can effectively manage multiple projects at a time. This person will be responsible for assisting with design content and must have a great attitude.
The Assistant Designer is responsible for the following:
- Research market trends/inspirations (driven by Design Director).
- Sketch initial concepts/flats (hand drawn or illustrator).
- Assist in creating color CADs and tech-packs as well as any in-house design related tasks.
- Assist with fittings.
- Correspond with factory throughout development (update sketches/provide corrective instruction).
- Manage development charts (status).
- Organize line plan.
- Manage shipping/tracking of samples.
- Write descriptions of new styles.
The Assistant Designer should have/be:
- A degree in Fashion Design or related field.
- Strong fashion aesthetic, color sense and conceptual skills, upholding Design vision for collection.
- Strong communication and follow-up skills with design team and overseas factories.
- Ability to multi-task and take on additional projects and tasks as needed.
- Strong eye for detail.
- Knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, draping, and sewing.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office applications.
