Optical Sales/ Office Team Member @Juliana Bock OD PC

Part-time, on-site role for an optical sales/ office team member based in Midlothian, Virginia. The role involves assisting customers with optical sales (frame and lens selection, measurements, ordering, dispensing), handling administrative tasks, managing customer service interactions, and ensuring the smooth operation of office functions. Responsibilities may also include handling basic accounting tasks and contributing to the overall efficiency and professionalism of the office.

Responsibilities
- Assist customers in selecting eyewear, lenses, and optical products based on individual needs and preferences.
- Provide detailed product explanations, including features related to optometry, physiology, and anatomy knowledge.
- Support clinical staff by understanding and managing medical records within EMR platforms.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Support laboratory processes, including optical measurements, lens fitting, and aseptic techniques when required.
- Manage retail sales transactions accurately using retail math skills and sales techniques.
- Educate patients on proper use of eyewear, contact lenses, and related products.
- Contribute to a welcoming environment for patients of all ages, including pediatrics and senior care populations.
- Answer phone calls and triage messages according to urgency.
- Other office procedures where needed. (Filing/pulling charts and insurances, checking patients in and out, collecting payments).
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.

Qualifications
- Prior experience in optical sales or retail management preferred but not required.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques necessary for clinical support roles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to patients of diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while providing outstanding customer service.
