Description
Overview: Either Part-Time or Full-Time
We are a loving family in Mill Valley seeking a professional, education-oriented Nanny to support the development of our 2-year-old daughter. We value independence, social-emotional learning, and a lifestyle that prioritizes outdoor exploration and natural discovery. This role is ideal for a candidate with a background in Social Work, Child Development, Education, Nursing, or Montessori/Waldorf training.
The Role:
This is more than a childcare position; it is a role for a "Learning Partner." You will be responsible for creating a "prepared environment" at home that fosters our daughter's natural curiosity and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Educational Engagement: Implement age-appropriate activities focusing on motor skills, language development, and sensory play.
- Independence Support: Guide our toddler through "practical life" skills (e.g., meal prep, dressing, and tidying) consistent with Montessori principles.
- Outdoor Exploration: Lead daily "nature walks" and outdoor play in the local Marin landscape to encourage physical development and environmental awareness.
- Emotional Coaching: Use positive reinforcement and gentle boundary-setting to support social-emotional milestones.
- Collaboration: Maintain open communication with us regarding developmental progress and work alongside our household team to ensure a calm, organized environment.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: A degree or significant coursework in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or Psychology is highly preferred.
- Specialized Training: Experience or certification in Montessori or Waldorf methods is a major plus.
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of childcare or teaching experience, ideally with the toddler age group.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Marin County (parks, libraries, and child-friendly trails).
- Attributes: Patient, observant, proactive, and deeply respectful of a child's autonomy.
- Health & Safety: CPR/First Aid certified; clean driving record.
Details & Benefits:
- Schedule: To be discussed
- Compensation: To be discussed
- Benefits: Paid Time Off (PTO), paid holidays
- Environment: A light-filled home with dedicated space for art and creative play.
To Apply:
Please send a brief introductory note and your resume. We would love to hear specifically about your philosophy on toddler development and any experience you have in educational, child development, social work, or nursing settings.
