The Supportive Housing Network of New York
The Supportive Housing Network of New York represents more than 200 nonprofit organizations that have created over 60,000 units of supportive housing across New York State. The Network uses advocacy, public education, training, technical assistance, research, and policy analysis to increase the public's understanding of supportive housing - affordable housing with voluntary services for formerly homeless people with disabilities and special needs. The Network identifies and shares best practices that continually improve the model's effectiveness and, most importantly, encourages the creation of enough supportive housing to end homelessness among the most vulnerable New Yorkers.

About the Position
Reporting to the Director of Programs and Engagement, the Engagement and Communications Intern plays a key role supporting the Network's activities in three areas - events, communications and member engagement. This is a part-time internship for 20 hours per week, taking place between September 22nd and December 12th

Responsibilities
Communications:
- Assist with writing blog posts for the Network's digests and Newsletters
- Create content for the Network's social media accounts: Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, YouTube, and other possible outlets
- Organize Network communication files
- Update salesforce and database contact lists
- Create materials for Network programs, such as the Network's Safety & Well-Being Training Series & Community of Practice
- Assist with any other communications related tasks as they arise

Annual Gala:
- Attend the Network's Annual Awards Gala on November 17th, 4-9pm, assisting with day-of set up and take-down and helping staff registration tables
- Assist with the creation of the gala journal, drafting write-ups and copy-editing content
- Support the design and creation of relevant marketing materials and communications
- Create Gala PowerPoint Presentation highlighting sponsors, honorees, and members
- Assist with any other gala related items as they arise

Member Meetings & NetWorkshops
- Attend member meetings, NetWorkshops and trainings, taking notes and identifying next steps
- Assist with emerging NetWorkshops and convenings as they arise

Qualifications & Requirements
- A passion for the Supportive Housing Network of New York's mission
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience using social media platforms with an understanding of trends
- Strong design skills and experience using Canva
- Working knowledge of coordinating meetings/webinars in ZOOM
- Strong attention to detail
- Organized self-starter
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Team player who can also work independently
- Enthusiastic about learning and growing professionally

Compensation
$2,000 stipend paid in two installments on 10/31 and 12/12.
