Description
Rare & Beautiful - Content Producer / Social Coordinator

Scope of Work

*Reports to:* Manon Crespi, Editor & Founder, Rare & Beautiful
Part-time, freelance/contract (hours to be scoped based on candidate - start at 8-12 hrs/week
*Start:* Immediate

---

About the role

Rare & Beautiful is a luxury editorial brand with an established voice, visual system, and content architecture. The founder handles all reporting, writing, on-camera work, and final creative sign-off. This role exists to carry finished and near-finished material across the finish line - production, formatting, and publishing - so that consistent posting no longer depends entirely on the founder's bandwidth.

This is *not* a strategy or brand-development role. The brand's editorial voice, design system, and content pillars are already fully documented in an internal Operating Manual (Editorial Bible, Design System, and Editorial Operations Manual). The right candidate works *from* that manual rather than inventing direction.

---

Core responsibilities

*1. Template setup (one-time, Phase 1)*
- Build a set of reusable Canva brand templates - one per recurring post category (Editorial Carousel Cover, Documentary Cover, From the Editor, The Dressing Table Contemplation, Field Notes) - matching the founder's locked typography (Playfair Display / Avenir Next) and color palette (near-black, brass gold, warm cream, hairline grey)
- Templates should be built so the founder or any future collaborator can update them by swapping the image and headline only, with no need to touch font, size, or layout
- Reference: the founder's Cover & Template Assignment Guide, which specifies which format (carousel, Reel, or single image) and whether a masthead applies for each department and post type

*2. Production & post-production (ongoing, Phase 2)*
- Assemble Instagram carousels and Reels from supplied material (photography, archival images, AI-generated stills/B-roll, video clips, interview transcripts), using the established Canva templates
- Apply the established Lightroom grading pass across AI-generated and real photography for visual consistency
- Follow existing format specs (e.g., 9:16 vertical for Reels, defined typography and color palette for carousels)

*3. Caption support*
- Draft caption copy in the brand's established editorial voice, for founder review and final approval
- Format captions per the brand's byline/journalistic caption standards

*4. Scheduling & consistency*
- Maintain a posting calendar aligned to the brand's content pillar rotation
- Schedule approved posts and track a consistent cadence
- Flag when the pipeline is running low on ready-to-post material, with enough lead time to avoid gaps

*5. Light coordination*
- Track outstanding approvals needed from external partners or collaborators before a post goes live
- Organize incoming raw material (interviews, location footage, archival assets) into a simple, labeled system the founder can hand off from

---

Explicitly NOT in scope

- Brand strategy, voice development, or pillar/architecture decisions
- Conducting interviews or original reporting
- On-camera appearances or founder-facing creative direction
- Design of new visual identity elements outside the established template set (typeface, palette, and layout system are fixed and not open for reinterpretation)
- Final sign-off on anything published under the founder's name - founder retains final approval on all posts

---

What the founder provides

- The Operating Manual (Editorial Bible, Design System, and Cover & Template Assignment Guide) as the working reference
- Raw material for each project: interview transcripts, photography, footage, AI-generated assets
- Final approval on templates, captions, grading, and post sequencing before anything goes live

---

Ideal candidate profile

- Comfortable building and working inside Canva brand templates (locking type, size, and layout so future edits are swap-only)
- Comfortable with Lightroom
- Strong eye for editorial/luxury visual consistency - portfolio in fashion, luxury, or lifestyle content a plus
- Organized and self-directed; can follow a detailed style guide without needing constant direction
- Journalism, design, fashion PR, or social media coordination background all reasonable entry points
- Discretion - this role handles unpublished material and relationships with luxury brand partners

---

Suggested first project (trial basis)

*Phase 1:* Build the initial Canva template set - Editorial Carousel Cover, Documentary Cover, From the Editor, and The Dressing Table Contemplation - per the founder's locked typography and palette.

*Phase 2:* Using those templates, complete an editorial piece

Compensation & structure

*Hourly (not retainer) for the first 4-6 weeks, with tracked time on each deliverable.

- This role is scoped as production/execution, not strategy or community management - so it sits below general "social media manager" rates and closer to a content coordinator/junior editor rate
.
- Hourly billing lets both sides see how long tasks actually take before converting to a flat monthly retainer, if the fit is right.
