After School Caregiver for Child with Autism in Tiverton, RI
Schedule:
- Afternoon: 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
We are seeking a reliable, caring, and patient caregiver to provide after school support for a child with autism.
Responsibilities:
-Uphold the child's safety and sense of comfort throughout each shift.
-Assist with afternoon routines, including hygiene, dressing, and preparing meals or snacks in line with dietary guidelines.
-Get off the bus and, if needed, provide transportation to and from school, ensuring timely arrivals and departures as discussed with the family.
-Support learning activities, using patience and adaptive strategies tailored to the child's needs.
-Organize and supervise activities that are developmentally appropriate, including sensory play, reading, arts, and time outdoors-always respectful of the child's preferences and sensitivities.
-Facilitate positive social interactions and guide the child in developing communication and coping skills.
-Maintain consistency between home and school routines, collaborating with parents to implement strategies.
-Administer medications and/or vitamins as needed, following instructions and keeping accurate records for family review.
-Keep the environment clean and orderly, with special attention to the child's personal space and sensory comfort.
-Document daily observations per PASS guidelines, noting any changes or progress, and communicate these updates to parents
Requirements:
- Experience with children with autism or other special needs
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record with reliable vehicle for transportation
- Must be willing to complete the PASS and/or Respite certification process through an agency which includes a background check
Compensation: $20-25/hr
- PASS workers will be paid by agency but family will compensate the difference in hourly rate as applicable.
