Adventure/Trek Staff (Climbing, Rappelling and Whitewater Rafting) @Camp Old Indian Meadow

Position Description:

Camp Old Indian is seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to serve on our Climbing and Rappelling tower and Whitewater rafting experience. This role offers a unique opportunity to inspire and mentor youth while engaging in exciting outdoor adventures.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and instruct climbing and rappelling activities at the tower
- Guide and oversee whitewater rafting excursions
- Ensure the safety of all participants through strict adherence to safety protocols
- Provide positive role modeling and mentorship to youth participants
- Facilitate team-building exercises and foster a cooperative environment
- Conduct pre-activity briefings and post-activity debriefings to enhance learning experiences
- Maintain equipment and ensure its proper use during activities
- Commission a Scout troop on a daily basis
- perform necessary cleaning tasks as part of a patrol (small group) on a daily basis
- guide troops during the check-in process
- assist troops in the check-out process
- Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or Program Director
Position Requirements:
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- Leadership experience with demonstrated ability to manage groups effectively
- Experience in team building and youth development
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse groups
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
- A commitment to Scouting values and principles

Preferred Experience:

- Previous experience as a camp counselor or instructor
- Knowledge of climbing, rappelling, and whitewater rafting techniques and safety measures
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, or lifeguarding
- Participation in scouting or similar youth development programs
