Description
$33 an hour. Four to Six hours a week. Flexible on days except Friday.
Strong fun minded woman with hyper mobility needs strong young person to help re-organize therapy room and other messy rooms (due to disability and just having other priorities).
Person should have common sense, elbow grease, and understand how to work without losing focus, but also how to chill and make small talk as different problems to solve come up in the course of our tasks.
Ideal candidate should be able to carry a chair up a flight of stairs, haul a 40lb trash bag about 80 feet, and be able to use basic tools like a screwdriver and a drill. Also should have some basic ability to stand on a step ladder and to think and be aware of their surroundings.
What are the tasks? Going through laundry and rolling it up occasionally. And rotating different "rehab" stations in my studio so that I can rehab different limbs or parts of my body. Limited space in my 15x22ft studio room with numerous fixed stations and MANY pieces of equipment. Often it feels like a tornado struck in there, but as I'm very goal oriented about making my rehab efforts efficient and soothing, I look past that. So I'd like to work alongside someone who brings kindness and leaves judgments behind.
I have TRX like equipment where handles and carabiners need changing; a pilates reformer same, Nordic bench, treadmill, etc. There are many minute tasks and larger ones. Some days we will both together move a heavy item. Other days, I myself can barely move and need more patience as I express the items to be done. Good conversation is a bonus. Listening to upbeat music too. Resiliency is important because often some of the tasks we do won't last. Moving the "stations" around my therapy room means that what we did one week could all be undone by the third week. I also have a smaller therapy room that I use for stretching, so laundry of blankets, moving yoga blocks, vacuuming under the mat, dusting etc is required.
Some days we will make runs to the landfill or Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity. Or hang up new curtain rods. I hope you get the gist that nothing is extremely taxing, but also nothing is too repetitive, unless my therapy demands it. I have a good heart. This means I won't be able to work with you if you are MAGA. No cologne or perfume either. It's a stressor.
Finally, the new personal organizer should feel comfortable around dogs and cats. We can work on and off together for a few years or a two month span at the least. How frequently we work will of course depend on your class and social schedule.
I'm able to move best after 1pm. I live in a serene valley between Aptos village and downtown Watsonville. There's deer and mountain lions in this hood. It is about 30min from Costco SCruz with no traffic.
