Applied Behaviorist / Community Integration Specialist
One-on-One Support Position - Pico/Robertson, Los Angeles, CA 90035
Position Overview
We are seeking a credentialed, compassionate professional to work one-on-one with a young man with Down Syndrome who also experiences social anxiety. This is a personalized, in-community role focused on building confidence, independence, and meaningful social engagement. The ideal candidate brings both clinical skill and genuine warmth, and is comfortable working in home and community settings.
Key Goals & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an individualized behavior support plan addressing social anxiety and community
engagement
- Provide one-on-one coaching to build social skills, self-confidence, and coping strategies in real-world
settings
- Support gradual, positive exposure to community environments (errands, appointments, recreational and
social outings)
- Reinforce independence in daily routines while respecting the client's pace and comfort level
- Use evidence-based, person-centered behavioral strategies appropriate for individuals with Down
Syndrome and co-occurring anxiety
- Track progress, document sessions, and communicate regularly with the family/care team
- Collaborate with existing caregivers and care coordinators to ensure a consistent, unified approach
Qualifications
Credentialed applicants only. We welcome candidates holding any of the following (or comparable) credentials:
- BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst)
- BCaBA (Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst)
- RBT (Registered Behavior Technician), working under BCBA supervision
- LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) with relevant behavioral/developmental experience
- Licensed Psychologist or Associate with relevant clinical experience
- Other comparable state-recognized credential in applied behavior analysis, community integration, or developmental disability support
Additional preferred experience:
- Prior experience supporting individuals with Down Syndrome and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities
- Experience treating social anxiety or anxiety-related presentations
- Comfort providing support in community settings, not just clinical or home environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with a broader care team
Position Details
- Location: Pico/Robertson area, Los Angeles, CA 90035
- Schedule: Part-time, approximately 10-20 hours per week (schedule to be discussed based on candidate availability and client needs)
Setting: One-on-one, in home and community settings
Compensation: Commensurate with credentials and experience
