About the opportunity
Dough is an Authorized Square Reseller, and we are building out a local field sales team. For 17 years, Square has led the industry, signing more than 4 million merchants - almost entirely through self-service. Square has now opened an Authorized Reseller channel to reach larger merchants who need local support and training in order to convert to using Square from their current provider. That is where Dough comes in, and that is where you come in.
Square has become far more than a way to accept payments. It is a full technology stack: payments, POS hardware, payroll, banking, loans, gift and loyalty programs and other business tools in one ecosystem.
Square transactions can be credited instantly to a merchant's Square bank account and withdrawn immediately with a Square debit card. Merchants have been paid more than $93 billion through Square Invoices globally, and Square AI now answers an owner's questions about their own business on demand.
Most Main Street merchants have never had anyone from Square walk through their door. You will be the first. Square's promise is that whatever your flavor of business, you build and grow on your terms. Your job is to deliver that in person.
What you'll do
- Become the local Square expert in your city - chambers of commerce, BNI and LeTip chapters, farmers markets, and business meetups.
- Prospect and meet with Main Street merchants, with a focus on businesses processing $10,000-$100,000 per month.
- Review merchants' current processing statements and show them what they are actually paying.
- Demo Square hardware and software in person, on site.
- Sign merchants through the co-branded Dough/Square link so they receive free equipment and you receive credit for the account.
- Support your merchants after the sale - installation, staff training, and the occasional paper roll or loaner terminal.

- Are interested in financial services and want something bigger than just a job simply selling payment processing.
- Can learn the Square product line well enough to teach it.
- Have the personality to walk into a business, start a conversation, and demo a product in person.
- Are comfortable with 1099 income tied to what you produce.
Payments experience not a requirement. Local relationships matter more.

Square has never had local sales reps - not once in 17 years. Every merchant you talk to has heard of Square, and most have used it as a customer. Almost none have ever been approached by someone representing it. The technology is changing, and the opportunity is changing with it. Getting in at the start of a channel like this does not come around often.
