Part-Time Mother's Helper / Family Assistant
Location: Scarborough, Maine
Hours: Approximately 18-24 hours per week
Schedule: Primarily weekday afternoons, with some flexibility as needed
About the Position
A busy family in Scarborough is looking for a dependable, organized, and caring Mother's Helper / Family Assistant to provide approximately 18-24 hours of support each week.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with school-aged children and can help keep the household running smoothly during the busy after-school hours.
Responsibilities
Children & After-School Support
Pick up children from school and/or activities
Drive children safely to and from after-school activities, sports, appointments, and other commitments
Help children transition smoothly from school to their afternoon routines
Ensure homework is completed and provide general homework support
Help children stay organized with schoolwork, activities, and belongings
Prepare simple snacks and meals as needed
Provide a warm, positive, and responsible presence for the children
Household Support
Light household cleaning and tidying
Keep children's bedrooms, play areas, and common areas organized
Help with children's laundry and putting clothes/items away
Help keep the kitchen tidy
Take out trash/recycling as needed
Run household errands, including groceries, returns, packages, and other routine errands
Help with general household organization and preparation
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
Reliable, responsible, and punctual
Warm, patient, and comfortable with children
Organized and able to manage multiple activities and schedules
Comfortable helping with homework and school routines
A safe and confident driver with a clean driving record
Able to use their own reliable vehicle for transporting children and running errands
Comfortable with light housekeeping and household organization
Proactive and able to recognize what needs to be done without constant direction
Looking for a consistent, long-term part-time position
Comfortable working independently
Schedule
Approximately 18-24 hours per week, primarily during weekday afternoons. A typical schedule may include approximately 2:30-6:30/7:00 p.m., depending on the children's school and activity schedules.
Some flexibility around the schedule would be helpful.
Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
